Come on down to 975 Main Street in Holbrook on Sunday November 18th at 2:30 PM, BRING A FRIEND and get the world’s first look at

Cutting Edge Kindness - More than just an "Anti-Bullying" program

As many of our current students and parents already know, I have been working studiously with world renowned psychologists, motivational, and educational speakers in order to hone my skills working with those who struggle with being bullied. There is no “one size fits all” answer to the issues facing our children, but there are skills and techniques that you can practice, which will teach you how to be mentally RESILIENT and IN CONTROL of your own self-image and emotions and therefore STOP MEAN PEOPLE DEAD IN THEIR TRACKS!

That’s where Cutting Edge Kindness comes in!

Our approach with Cutting Edge Kindness is to deal with the moments, months, weeks, days BEFORE a physical confrontation occurs. And the benefits go far beyond stopping the mean, hateful people in your life…the world can be a better place if we all use these skills as often as we can.

We can end the torment that so many of today’s youth suffers through, without violence. We can learn to be STRONG yet KIND without being weak, and lead by example. Cutting Edge Kindness is an adjunct to our Cutting Edge Kempo Karate program, where we speak about and promote all these ideas while focusing mainly on the physical attributes of resilience, practicing self defense techniques, and getting our bodies in better shape. Although these physical techniques are a large part of our curriculum, I have come to notice that there could be MORE.

That is why I began mentoring under people who are already out there making a difference by teaching and demonstrating psychological techniques to help people remain strong in the face of adversity. By combining the physical strengths our students presently gain through their training at Cutting Edge Kempo Karate with the proven psychological techniques that I have learned from my mentors, I am building so much more than an anti-bullying program. I am proud to introduce Cutting Edge Kindness, currently in its infancy, a program designed to let everyone of all ages know that they can persevere. They can survive. They can

BE STRONG.

BE COOL.

and

BE KIND.

Join us for a sneak peak of our upcoming program and engage in this FREE motivational speech and see how well these skills can be applied in this fun, interactive event. Sign up spots are limited, so click the link below to get on the list for our first event, which is FREE to everyone in the surrounding communities, and open to all ages!

More to come…stay tuned.

The Martial Arts and Resilience Training http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/the-martial-arts-and-resilience-training/ Thu, 25 Oct 2018 15:22:54 +0000 http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/?p=226 Harvard studies suggest that the biggest predictor for success is SELF CONTROL and EMOTIONAL HEALTH.

When people hear the term Martial Arts, or Karate, their heads are almost always filled with images of ancient Asian Masters adorned in flamboyantly flowing robes and wild hairdos complete with equally wild facial hair. These masters have ancient, mystical and torturous means to harden the body and spirit of their tormented student. Or maybe the mind wanders to the pivotal moment of The Karate Kid, where Daniel-san hops upon his good leg, hands spread like the wings of the crane, just before issuing the tournament winning crane kick. Another common reaction is for the person to chop sarcastically with their hands while issuing a high pitched “He-e-eee YA-A-AAaaa!”. In either scenario, whether the person believes the art is venerable or silly, the first thing that comes to mind is violence.

This could not be further from the truth.

The Martial Arts, you see, is about attaining and working to improve our lifestyles and our perceptions of the world around us. When most people get involved in a (good) Dojo, they quickly realize that the basic laws of conduct in most karate schools are not just rules to regulate behavior inside the classroom, but they are life goals.

  • Respect – Treat others the way you want them to treat you… No matter how they treat you.
  • Discipline – Do the things in life that have to be done to the best of your ability… if your going to do it, do it the best you can.
  • Self Control – Don’t make decisions from an emotional state… Be responsible for your own actions.

Much of what we teach in the Martial Arts revolves around the “Golden Rule”, or respect. When we can learn to stand strong in the face of adversity and treat others with kindness, it spreads. What makes us different? We don’t just TALK about respect, we don’t just TALK about everyday conflict, we PRACTICE it.

Join me in my mission to help our youth learn to be resilient.

More About Cutting Edge Kindness http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/more-about-cutting-edge-kindness/ Wed, 24 Oct 2018 19:53:18 +0000 http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/?p=191 We don’t believe that calling kids “bullies” is helpful. Instead, we teach students to deal with difficult people.  At Cutting Edge Kindness, students learn how to handle conflicts and pursue peace through;

  • Social and emotional learning
  • Resilience education
  • Therapeutic role play

By understanding that you as an individual are in control of the way you feel about, or perceive, every verbal and non verbal, non physical interaction you have with others, you will be empowered and therefore lead a more peaceful lifestyle without being drowned in an emotional tsunami of offense, and approval addiction.

Knowing the difference between subjective and objective harm will start you on the path to logical thinking and begin to pull the roots of irrational thinking. Watch your stress disappear as you no longer obsess about your perfect performance, your need to be treated ‘fairly’, and understand the difference between what you want versus what you need.

Learn that you can RESPOND instead of REACT.

All a child needs is ONE caring adult http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/all-a-child-needs-is-one-caring-adult/ Fri, 24 Aug 2018 16:40:16 +0000 http://kindness.cuttingedgekempo.com/?p=115 Be the stable, logical emotional rock that every child needs. Lead by example. Be the person that you needed when you were a child. March 2015 Harvard’ s National Scientific Council on the Developing Child, after conducting a study released this statement;

“Every child who winds up doing well, has had at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive adult.”

What most children need is the understanding that they can talk to someone they trust without judgement, to be able to air their feelings knowing they won’t be told what to do, or asked why they did or did not perform in a specific manner. Knowing they have a sounding board from someone who will acknowledge their feelings and emotions and let them vent without unsolicited advice. They want to solve their own problems.
